Design-- Power point--

My project would be using this very website to communicate amongst my students and their parents. I strongly believe Blogger can be something I will use for students just because it gives them a safe enviornement to express any thoughts, feelings or questions. It would go like this. I would asign a certain blog or topic - the student then researchers about it or talks about it - in class we discuss if anyone wants to discuss with Blogger I can also use this to implement certain dates or important news for the parents to see. I do not think cyber bullying would occur from this because Ill try to keep it a very safe place!

I will use excel sheets as a teacher to organize my students, to place their grades, to enter their test scores and possibly more. I will use surveys probably more as a way to communicate to them and not so much on the assignments side? I would not use surveys just because I will be a teacher for the blind and they can not see the surveys. If I were to use them then I think it will be as a way to get to know my students and type it up in braille for them! then they just tell me what they like individually! One thing i found most interesting is that a lot of my classmates really loved Diigo and Twitter and can see themselves using it in the future for education. I personally loved these two applications and websites because they made it very much easy to contact people, to also look up a valuable source and mark it up. The next technology related skill I would like to learn next is basic IT if not coding. I think it is important because coding can help me with my computers and an over...

The flipped classroom is a classroom that has its teacher send out lecture videos for homework and so time spent in the classroom is open for discussion and active learning of the lecture. Going further in depth and having the students in multiple discussion to capture their true knowledge of what was discussed in the video that was sent home for homework. Which is honestly something that happens in college, I actually like it and it gives me the space and time to talk to my professor and actually learn what was being taught beforehand... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzMFdDT6FSA  https://library.educause.edu/topics/teaching-and-learning/open-educational-resources-oer Open education is about making it open to audience. Open content, means the teacher is doing his or her job in ensuring that they get their material through anyway of means as long as it is teachable. Working with power point was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed learning how to make power points interactive...

Adaptive technologies do not seclude students from using computers but rather make it easier for them to use it. Something that'll help them. All from braille use to organizers and overall just make computing easier for students, making the matter easier to all students. Braille keyboards would be perfect to have in any and if in all schools because there are students who are legally blind! I have never had to use adaptive technologies for school, not any that I can think of off the top of my head at least. I have seen some applications been used at my internship where the teacher gives a laptop to some students and also headphones because they have ADD and the headphones help them focus on the material better. To insure that I try and get all my students no matter  what I would utilize power points many tools to explain the Bloom's Taxonomy. First I would start with having the power point be interactive, therefore the students HAVE to listen because it will not move to the s...

Finding a website for this blog was not hard because I intern at a elementary school. The website is Florida State University Schools. This website is extremely detailed because it basically is a elementary, middle, and high school. With that, there were so many pages open to the public and even had merchandise to buy from the high school. Since I interned with elementary I ended up looking at their website and it was very useful, they had tabs that allowed me to find the teachers in every certain grade, subject and building. There is a login tab but without that you have a various amount of access. I envision myself using technology a lot actually when I become a teacher. How could I not? The world is becoming more tech savvy and who am I to not learn about this and not educate my students with it. I feel like we as future educators have a purpose to teach our students everything and everything to become a good civilian and someone that can maintain with the century. I would lov...

Web 2.0 tools being banned due to ELA standards is a tad absurd. I would definitely use the website Blogger, with my students. This would be such a fun and interactive way to communicate and also assign prompts for my students to go on and write about. Tools of this certain function I believe are useful. Certain tools like Flickr, I do not really find any reason for it because there are ways you can upload pictures and make it interactive. These online websites like Myspace and Flickr I really do not think they are very much Useful. Blogger is a website based off of google where you can write about anything and upload it to the web. This freedom can bring a lot of creativity to a classroom and in a way comfort because this would be my students own personal thoughts being expressed. Give them being so fluent and comfortable in class, that really doesn’t happen because of pressure but online a shy student can compete and be on the same terms of a extroverted student in campus. Therefore...

Twitter/Personal Networking Blog

Hello my twitter username is @KarlaUrbina_FSU . This twitter assignment was fun in the beginning but I easily forgot to keep track of it. I do say that it is a fun way to keep us motivated and putting ourselves out there. I read a lot of opinions on different topics and even had fun talking to other people on the social media application. As easy of a task as it was I unfortunately forgot but had no problem getting back on my feet. I got to follow a lot of educational accounts that I did not even know existed! For example my two ultimate favorite accounts do not have anything to do with educational technology... to a certain extent. I absolutely loved reading the tweets from @NasaEducation and also @NatGeoEducation. Growing up I was always fascinated with National Geographic, through the pictures, videos and articles. This is an easy way to show your students something quick and informative! The NASA profile updated me and taught me a lot of minor things from life outside this...

Twitter to me is not only just a place where I can tweet, It is also a place where I can catch real-life news through verified accounts and have that information in the palm of my hands. To incorporate that into academics, I really find it useful! I find it interesting and I have never done something like this for a class. Although there are some things that I am lost with, just following what needs to be tweeted out on a weekly basis and all that stuff. I really do think I will enjoy this assignment. I also recently just made my account due to not remembering about the assignment last week. The digital divide affects student success by many things, does not give them the opportunity to be tech savvy, doesn't allow them to learn in a different way, maybe they are visual learners and not having access to internet or technology would help them. Software applications like powerpoint and online educational games. I most definitely will experience this lack of technolo...

I personally want to teach elementary students and the ELA technology that I would pick would be introducing technology to these students. I would do it in a manner that is fun to learn and easy to understand. With that being said it would be that the students I teach in the near future might already have previous knowledge of how to work a computer or other certain devices and then I would start working with what common core has me to do and I believe that's programs online to help the students. One software I would love to use for my future students is an online discussion board, I think this is such an amazing tool to have. I remember being younger and having questions about my homework that my parents could not answer due to a language barrier and I had to struggle through the assignments and sometimes show up to class with my homework not finished. This would allow me to talk to my students openly online with supervision from an adult, parent or guardian and potent...

Being a sophomore in college I have used the MS Word plenty of times. I believe I started using word in middle school for scientific papers and all of that. So with all those years on me, you'd think I'd know a lot about this software but I actually do not know it too well. I do not know how most things work I just get my paper done and turn that in. I wish there were classes for students to teach them the basic needs for this program because in college I have seen that margins and footers and etc really are important for papers and I did not learn about this until senior year. I may be exaggerating a bit but the groove of this all is that schools do not teach these things in class and I would not mind being taught this. Amongst other things... like how to file taxes... Financial Aid.... You know.... Thankfully I have never been accused of copyright, I believe its just because I am too scared to completely copy something especially now that professors have websites like...

I believe that there are a variety of different reasons why students and teachers are influenced to use technology in the class. We are more tech savvy I feel and it allows creativity to roam throughout the classroom. With a simple computer, the professor can make a regular lecture into a slide show with pictures, videos, music, and etc. We are in a digital world and that gives us the opportunity to bring that world into our classrooms! ISTE Standards seem to be a good thing like the book said it's not about implementing technology to an outdated way of teaching it is integrating technology and potentially amplifying it in our best capacity. it allows collaboration, creativity, and communication. To be digital native means that a person was brought up in the era of when technology was booming, basically, I am a digital native. I personally do not see anything wrong with that, I can fix a TV because I know how to use google, how to use youtube and fix things quickly. Whenever...

First Blog, Experience with Technology

Hello, my name is Karla Urbina. My prior experience with technology is I would say your average millennial. If I were to rate myself on a scale one through ten, I would rate myself a solid 6. I say this because,  I grew up with a younger brother. Always having to look out for him and make sure he's okay I'd help him set up his gaming systems. He is the more tech savvy one in the family and I would see him code so I know a few things here and there.  One thing I hope to learn in this course Is to become a better blogger and how to use certain things to help me teach in a class. I think it'll be important now that nearly everything is done with technology and online. I'd very much like to learn more about how to use social media in a business level or professional level. I am a student, in undergrad so my social media is not really geared for professionalism but with the help of this class I feel like I would learn what to do when that time comes.
